Have you ever opened social media to check one thing… and 20 minutes later you’re scrolling through content you never asked to see?
There’s a calmer, simpler way to keep up with the websites you love — and it’s called an RSS feed.
What is an RSS feed (in plain language)?
RSS is like a subscription box for website updates.
When a website publishes something new, the update is sent to your RSS reader automatically. No algorithms. No distractions. No endless scrolling.
You choose what goes in. You see only what you care about.
Think of it as:
👉 Your personal reading list
👉 Automatically updated
👉 In one clean place
Why I love RSS (and why you might too)
- No social media noise
- No “recommended” content you didn’t ask for
- No missing posts because of algorithms
- Everything organized and easy to read
- You stay connected without being overwhelmed
It’s peaceful internet browsing — the way it should be.
The easiest way to use RSS: Feedly
Feedly is a free app and website that collects updates from your favorite sites into one simple dashboard.
Instead of jumping between websites or social platforms, you open Feedly and see everything neatly arranged.
You control your feed — not an algorithm.
How to follow Ilona’s Slow Life Creations in Feedly
It takes about two minutes to set up.
Step 1 — Create a Feedly account
- Go to Feedly in your browser.
- Sign up (you can use email, Google, or Apple).
- Log in and open your feed dashboard.
Step 2 — Add a website to follow
- In Feedly, click the search bar.
- Type:
ilonaslowlifecreations.co.za - When the site appears, click Follow.
Step 3 — Organize your feed
Feedly will ask where to place the site:
- Create a new category like Inspiration, Slow Living, or Creative Life
- Or add it to an existing category
Now you’re subscribed — and new posts will appear automatically whenever they’re published.
What your reading experience will feel like
Instead of:
❌ Ads
❌ Random videos
❌ Endless scrolling
❌ Content you didn’t ask for
You get:
✔ A calm reading space
✔ Only the websites you choose
✔ Updates in order of publication
✔ A more intentional online experience
A gentler way to stay connected
RSS is about slowing down your digital life — choosing quality over noise, intention over distraction.
If you enjoy thoughtful content and want to stay updated without the chaos of social media, this is one of the best tools you can use.
And if you subscribe through Feedly or any RSS reader app, you’ll never miss a new post.

Thank you, thank you Hilda for such a succint explanation. This all makes such incredibly good sense.
